QS plan two new stores

From the Chorley Citizen, first published Wednesday 2nd Aug 2006.

Chorley-based retailer QS Discount is to open two new stores in the North West.

One new 13,000 sq ft store will open in Warrington in September, and another outlet will open in Blackburn in October each expected to generate 50 new jobs.

The two stores will bring the total number of QS Discount stores to five, with plans to open up to five more over the next two years.

QS Discount managing director Simon Yates, who began his retail empire from a family stall on Chorley market, said: "We're delighted to report that our ambitious plans for growth are right on track.

"The stores in Warrington and Blackburn are an important part of the QS Discount expansion strategy.

"It's a competitive market but we thrive on that.

"We always aimed to be one of the largest discount retailers in the North West and with the opening of these two stores we have now achieved that goal."

Earlier this year QS Discount confirmed record sales of more than £6m in 2005.
