PETER Kay will continue his series of hilarious TV commercials for John Smith's bitter when he appears in the firm's latest advert - as a bumbling DJ.
The comedian plays a 1980s-obsessed DJ under the name The Vinyl Countdown, whose matter-of-fact approach to his job ruins the atmosphere at a wedding party.
Bolton comedian Kay is seen dedicating the hit song Living in a Box to a member of the wedding party "whose wife kicked him out last night".
His hapless character then continues the embarrassment when a request from the bride's father for his daughter Annie's special day turns out to be the 1982 chart-topper Annie - I'm Not Your Daddy, by Kid Creole and The Coconuts.
The bride, played by EastEnders actress Alison Pargeter, is left blushing on the dance floor as Kay picks up his pint of John Smith's and half-heartedly utters: "I thought everybody knew."
The 30-second advert is due to hit TV screens from today as the latest in the company's 'No Nonsense' ad campaign featuring Britain's favourite funnyman.
In previous adverts, Kay has been seen upstaging Englebert Humperdinck at a concert in Las Vegas by joining in with the crooner, and bringing Danny Baker's familiar soap powder doorstep challenges to an unexpected conclusion.
