Blue Watch sees the end of an era

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Tuesday 8th Apr 2003.

THE book closed on a piece of history today as firefighters from Accrington left their old station to move into their new premises on Hyndburn Road.

Blue Watch completed the last full night shift at the station on Manchester Road that has served the town for more than 60 years.

The old station was part of a complex housing the police, fire brigade, ambulance, law courts and council lighting departments.

The new Hyndburn Fire Station costs £1.7million and will be one of the most modern in the country.
